Illinois Deed Provider sends attorney after me

I represent Illinois Deed Provider. It has recently been brought to my attention that your web site (web address http://moveuptonaperville.blogspot.com/2006/05/can-you-spell-scam.html ) insinuates that the service offered by Illinois Deed Provider is a scam. Illinois Deed Provider has been providing a record retrieval service in Illinois for many years and is a reputable company. We provide a service for homeowners that saves them the time and trouble of requesting and obtaining their own documents. Our service is similar to that of yours, whereby, you list and help sell a home for your clients. Your clients could sell their homes on their own for less money, but many decide to hire you to save them the time and trouble.

We demand that you immediately retract the slanderous statements on your website and correct any comments you wish to make about our company to be factual. Failure to do so will force us to consider further action as this is considered tortious interference of our business.

If you desire, please feel free to have your attorney contact us directly.

Best Regards,

Steve Isaacson

It looks like you're being threatened by a rummy attorney who doesn't even know the difference between libel and slander.

Keep up the good work.

Eileen,

There is no Steven M. Isaacson licensed to practice law in Illinois. If in fact he is an attorney, I wonder whether he's related to the person identified as the founder of the company, one "Barry Joel" Isaacson.

I also note that the government site National Deed points to as recommending certified copies of deeds only recommends certified copies of documents "if applicable," which would not be the case for a deed. Who needs it?

This may not be a scam, but it is certainly a sleazy operation.

Eileen -

Mr. Isaacson is a dolt, who is trying to intimidate you. Please don't let that happen. He is certainly not an attorney.

Definition of Slander from The 'Lectric Law Library's Lexicon

SLANDER - A false defamation (expressed in spoken words, signs, or gestures) which injures the character or reputation of the person defamed; distinguished from libel.

LIBEL - malicious defamation expressed either in printing or writing or by signs or pictures, tending to blacken the memory of one who is dead, with intent to provoke the living; or the reputation of one who is alive and to expose him to public hatred, contempt or ridicule. It has been defined perhaps with more precision to be a censorious or ridiculous writing, picture or sign, made with a malicious or mischievous intent.

This clown doesn't even know the fundamental defintion of "slanderous".

Heck, if you've still got the letter, send it to me and I'll scan it and post it on my blog!

These guys are RIPPING PEOPLE OFF and are SLEAZEBALLS!

There Mr. Isaacson, stick that in your LIBEL pipe and smoke it!

Daily Pundit has linked to your story and added commentary and further investigation.

I Think They'll Come to Regret This.
